Marfa TX offers an opportunity to see the art installations created and organized
by Donald Judd at the Chinati and Judd Foundations. Ballroom Marfa provides a
contemporary art venue. Fine dining is available at Cochineal and at Maiya's
restaurants as well as other location.
We recommend accommodations at STAY marfa. These nightly apartments are
spacious, comfortable and moderately priced. They provide an alternative to hotels
and are operated by our friends and the first owners of the Retreat, Tom Jacobs
and Vilis Inde. See: www.marfaretreat.com or call 1.888.MarfaGo (888.627.3426)

RIO GRANDE RIVER DRIVE - BIG BEND RANCH STATE PARK: This is one of the most beautiful drives that you will ever take.
It begins at Study Butte and Terlingua ghost town at the junction of Highways 118 and 170. Once you reach Lajitas, Highway 170
follows the Rio Grande and provides remarkable views of the US/Mexican border area with magnificent mountains.
BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK: The national park has 6 separate car tours. The routes and sights are described in "Road Guide
to Paved and Improved Dirt Roads of Big Bend National Park" which is available at the park.
H I K I N G: There are great hiking trails in the National and State Parks. There is also a hike to the peak of the Christmas
Mountains - obtain a permit at Terlingua Ranch Lodge. The immediate area has many unmarked roads that are difficult to
navigate without knowledge of the area. Great care must be taken if you choose to explore areas, such as Agua Fria, on your
own.
BRING PLENTY OF WATER FOR ANY HIKE. DECIDE WHAT YOU NEED AND THEN TAKE MORE.

These websites should provide up-to-date information regarding restaurants, stores, and all sorts of opportunities available in the
Big Bend region. Please realize, however, that businesses come and go. In addition, some tend to keep irregular hours based
upon the whims of the West Texas winds. Therefore, it is always best to contact a business/restaurant to make sure that it is open.
The Chinati Foundation includes major permanent installations by numerous contemporary artists.
