BIG BEND AREA
The Chisos Mountains (background) are at the heart of Big Bend Natl Park . Photo from Christmas Mountains.
This photograph was taken  from an area just west of Hen Egg Mountain.
Big Bend National Park offers spectacular hikes . The photograph of
Elephant tusk (left) is taken from the end of Lost Mine Trail.

Hiking and rafting allow you to experience St. Helena's Canyon with its
walls that reach 1,500 feet. The photograph (left below) shows the
confluence of the Rio Grande and Terlingua Creek. The Rio Grande has
carved its way through the stone to create this canyon that delineates the
border between the U.S. and Mexico.

Pictographs are located at the Indian Head Mountain at the Northwestern
section of the National Park. Pictographs and petroglyphs are found
throughout the Big Bend Region.

Native American mortar holes date back thousands of years. Dinosaur
bones dates back millions.

The Big Bend region is also a migratory route for birds. Geologists,
Orthantologists, paleontologists  - both professional and amateur, will
find this to be a rich terrain for study.
