*These statistics relate to Panther Junction in Big Bend National Park which is at an elevation
of 3,750.  Temperatures are cooler by 5-10 degrees in the Chisos Basin area because of the
additional elevation.  They are also 5-10 degrees warmer once you are at the lower elevation
of the Rio Grande.

The rainfall often comes in the form of thunderstorms and the showers are extremely heavy
but last a relatively short period. Be careful of flooded roads.

Regardless of the weather conditions, we recommend that you bring plenty of water along for
any activity. The desert and the sun causes dehydration very quickly.
